IPL Spot Fixing Scam: Betting should be made legal, says Vindoo Dara Singh

Actor Vindoo Dara Singh, who was arrested for betting in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and now on bail, says cricket betting should be legalised.

“Cricket is like a religion in India. The IPL will be conducted and betting will take place as well," said Vindoo on Monday.

Vindoo, who got bail on June 4, feels the government should legalise cricket betting.

“I think the government should interfere and legalise betting,” he said. At the same time, he has vowed not to watch cricket for the rest of his life. “I don’t know whether IPL 7 will happen or not. However, it does not matter to me,”said Vindoo, who maintains he is innocent.

“I can guarantee I have not done anything wrong. When I gain the trust of people, I will get more work. However, until then life will go on,” he said.

Vindoo was arrested by the Mumbai police in May, following a spot fixing scandal. Three cricketers - S Sreesanth, Ankeet Chavan and Ajit Chandila from the Rajasthan Royals were arrested for alleged spot fixing. BCCI president N Srinivasan’s son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan was also arrested by the Mumbai police

Currently, everybody has been released on bail.
